Né vers 1950 à Kumasi au Ghana. Peintre de lettres et d’enseignes, Kwame Akoto peint également à partir de photographies, des thèmes chrétiens, des portraits de célébrités, des hommages à son pays le Ghana, des visions des démons et de l’enfer et un grand nombre d’autoportraits. Son œuvre a été repérée en Europe dès 1980 comme une des plus importantes parmi les artistes d’Afrique de l’Ouest. En 1991, Almighty God fait partie des artistes exposés par Susan Vogel dans l’exposition Africa Explores: 20th Century African Art, au Center of African Art de New York. Ses œuvres sont signées Almighty God Art Work du nom de son premier studio de peinture d’enseigne, créé en 1972.
